1 / 4

On March 17, the RA Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mesrop Arakelyan presented the report of the Ministry on the executive sheet for 2020 at the NA Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Affairs.

The Minister informed that in the last year there had been changes in the sphere of social security and the activity procedure of the ministry. They were conditioned by the Covid 19 and war.

The allowance for care of a baby up to 2 years increased from 18.000 AMD to 26.500 AMD from July 2020. The one-time allowance for the first and second children is 300.000 AMD. Before the changes, a parent received 50.000 AMD for the first child and 150.000 AMD for the second child. The minimum pension increased too, becoming 26.500 AMD.

The basic pension is 18.000 AMD and for one-year work experience is 950 AMD. The benefits for people with disabilities had been changed too. The Ministry implemented 11 events in the financial year, in the framework more than 25bln AMD directed to the social programs. About 1mln beneficiaries were given financial support with different events.

In the last year, after war, 25bln AMD had been allocated to the Artsakh Republic, it is designed to increase about 30bln AMD. The Ministry has 15 programmes directed to Artsakh. Part of them is still continuing.

As the Minister informed, incomplete programmes were also carried out in the social security: the reason was the pandemic and the war.
